About Me:
Der Gletscher is an independent rapper/producer from Lodz/Poland. He moved with his mother and his older brother in 1987 to Germany when the communistic regime in Poland at that time decided that his father (who left the country in 1984 to start a better life for the four of them in Germany) was considered a traitor of the system and announced therefore that they have 24 hours to leave Poland. He started to write lyrics in 1996, when he was denied entry into a club because of his Polish passport and begun to make beats 2 years later. Making new connections he begun working in a Maki studio in a youth center in Bremen/Hemelingen and recorded his first song "Privilegiert" that was selected for a sampler called "309" in 1998. Shortly after that he started to work on his album called "Das kommt davon" and won the first price (a one week trip to Paris/France) in a rap contest. Running into difficulties with the owner of the studio, Der Gletscher was forced to brake up the work on his debut album and lost all the material that he had finished so far. In 2004 he relocated to Chicago. Now he is working with various artists like Mike G, Fred G, Cash, U.B. with 462 Ent.
